Pyjama Foundation kids travel to the heart of Corporate Australia for Financial Literacy Day

Empowering Young People Through Financial Literacy

Recently, ASX Giving, the ASX’s internal staff program designed to encourage and support ASX employees to give to the wider community by promoting volunteering, knowledge, time and resource support, in partnership with The Pyjama Foundation, hosted a Financial Literacy Day designed to help young people build practical life skills, confidence, and readiness for the future.

The event brought together ASX volunteers from across the business who generously shared their time, experience, and personal insights with participants aged 15 to 23. Through interactive sessions and real-world examples, participants explored key financial topics including budgeting, saving, managing everyday expenses, understanding credit, and making informed financial decisions.

The day also focused on career readiness, with volunteers leading sessions on resume building and interview skills. Participants received practical advice on how to stand out in a competitive job market, present their strengths effectively, and approach interviews with greater confidence.

One of the highlights of the day was the opportunity for participants to engage in one-on-one mentoring conversations with ASX volunteers. These personalised discussions provided valuable guidance on education pathways, career aspirations, workplace expectations, and personal development. The genuine engagement between volunteers and participants created a supportive environment where questions could be asked openly and practical advice shared.

Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with many highlighting the value of the financial literacy content, career development sessions, and mentoring opportunities. For the volunteers, it was equally rewarding to see participants grow in confidence and leave with new skills, ideas, and aspirations.

By sharing knowledge, experience, and encouragement, the volunteers helped equip young people with skills that will support them not only in managing their finances but also in pursuing their education, career ambitions, and future goals. It was a powerful reminder of the positive impact we can make when we come together to give back to our community.
